Vancouver is working hard at its Greenest City in the world goal. City Councillors unanimously approved new regulations for electric vehicle charging stations.
Under the new plan, builders must provide charging facilities for at least 20% of the parking stalls in new apartment buildings and condominiums.
Even as the Manawatu region develops the case to be a pilot region for sustainable transport initiatives, we congratulate the city dads of Vancouver for have taken this progressive regulation forward. Reducing tail pipe emissions from the regional transport fleet has its benefits, but we need the political will and leadership to make our vehicle tail pipe emissions become a distant and unpleasant memory.
